Rated 5 out of 5 by Another Great Red Wing USA Boot I just picked up a pair of these today after eyeing them for a few months in my local farm and tractor supply store while in there shopping. I also own a pair of USA 10875s and know the brand well. They fit great right out of the box in my usual boot size of 11D. Like always I immediately brought them home and used Red Wing mink oil and conditioner paste on them to soften them up and semi waterproof them. I use a Milwaukee industrial heat gun set on the lowest setting to sweat the paste into the leather while rubbing/burnishing it in by hand after the leather and paste is warmed up and liquidized. I solder copper water plumbing, silver braze copper refrigerant lines that hold in excess of 400 psi, and also am an accomplished welder. Doing this thing is in comparison is a walk in the park and I could do it in my sleep. HaHa!! I'm a licensed HVAC technician by day and also enjoy outdoor shooting/hunting/fishing/camping activities in my off time, thus warranting a high quality pair of footwear. These boots don't disappoint thus far. I have a comment to make about the review below mine where the gentleman is complaining about "moisture" in his boots. Just get a PEET boot dryer and that concern will be irrelevant. My local Red Wing store saleswoman gave me the tip quite some time ago and have been using one daily ever since. Every Red Wing boot owner should have one. Mine even has the Red Wing logo on it because I purchased it from her. Get a light timer and set it for four to six hours drying time starting when you normally get off work and get home to get your boots off. You'll never have wet feet again and your boots will last much longer. Thanks again Red Wing USA for the great boots. I wonder how many people know Steve McQueen's favorite boots were Red Wing 877s? They certainly were as he is also from Indiana and I have been a fan of his since boyhood knowing a lot about him. I also caught the part in the first Grumpy Old Men when Walter (Max) is standing in Chuck's sporting goods store next to a pair of Red Wings. It fit the movie well as you folks have been in business since 1905. Just a little rambling here and stating some history and facts for those who may read and enjoy it. What else can I say about these boots except they are GREAT!!! Go USA!!! January 30, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Be prepared for clammy feet I've had these boots for three weeks and can say they don't breathe at all. They make my feet sweat excessively and don't dry out very fast. Overall quality is good and comfort is borderline average (and I had tried three different sets of insoles). I have two pairs of Iron Rangers and know that Red Wing makes a good product, but this model leaves something to be desired. November 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Finally, a work boot worth the price tag Took about 2 weeks to break-in. A majority of my work is in a field-setting. I've spent the last 10 years buying sub-$100 boots and have typically needed to buy new boots yearly. I am about to finish the field season with these boots. I've owned them a year and wear them 4-5 days a week. They've kept in great shape. I condition them about once a month and wipe them clean with water if they get too muddy. I'm assuming I'll resole them next year (maybe two) but will likely keep them for a decade. I was very impressed and will stick to Red Wing (as long as they are still made in the USA). A great standard work boot.Buy it nice or buy it twice! November 22, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by good but not for someone who walk alot I have had the boots for 8 months now. The sole is starting to crack and is smooth on the ball of my foot. I love them and they are comfortable. The sole is not made for someone who puts in 15,000 steps in a day. The soft rubber on the bottom wears fast. The leather will outlast any sole you put on them. The stitching is wonderful and is not pulling apart. I have another pair of red wings with a harder sole that I have worn for 2-3 years every day and the sole is in better shape than these ones. I would recommend them, to some one that is not walking on concrete and not walking a ton of steps in a day. November 16, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointed in Fit and Leather After my immense satisfaction with the 8" 2233 model boots, I needed a 6" boot added into my rotation. I thought the 606 would do the trick--made in USA, solid reputation, readily available--however, turns out it was not to be.The Fit--very comfortable with the dual density out sole, so good job there RW. However, the longer I wore the boot, the greater instep pain I experienced, despite loosening laces--to the point I ended up returning them and walking out empty handed after a week of really wanting to like the boots. I believe this is tied to RW's use of a 90%-fit last design (and is incompatible with my feet). If you have the average foot fitment typical of so many (normal arches, etc.) you will absolutely enjoy the 606 boots. Knock of one star from the review. The Leather--great color and fit/assembly. The lower rating comes from the perpetually dry feel of the leather, even after oiling. Turns out, the leather is "treated" with a coating the store informed me. Also, the back of the studs really tore up the surface of the tongue leather, resulting in not divots or burnishing but actual damage to the leather itself. Bad hardware finish or just this particular leather? Knock off another star from the review. My recommendation is to take a look at the 606s if you have average, "normal" feet. In the end I really wanted to leave my $$$ with the RW store, but we just could not make it happen. Pity. September 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by You Get What You Pay For Which is good because these ain't cheap. During my work boot buying process, I must have tried on 20 different pairs of work boots from different manufacturers and nothing came remotely close to the quality of these Red Wing work boots. The fit and finish is just top notch. The only thing I regret is not buying them sooner. The Red Wing in store customer service is top notch too in my area. Now on on the actual boot review:I immediately wore them to work the same day I purchased them and they did take about a week to begin breaking in. I have had them about 1 month now and they are super comfortable. One thing I that really surprised me was how water proof they seem even though they do not have a waterproof membrane. I have my feet submerged in ankle deep water every week and I haven't felt a drop come through yet which is pretty amazing. Another thing about them that is remarkable is that I work in a warehouse environment in the central valley of California where temperatures stay in the upper 90's and spike into the 100's on a weekly basis in the summer and my feet do not overheat in these boots. I believe this is due to the lack of a "moisture wicking" liner inside the boot, it's just plain and simple leather inside there. Yea, a liner is supposed to wick away moisture but it is also an added layer to trap heat. I had some mesh/leather work shoes and my feet stay cooler in these boots then in those. So if you are in the market for some fresh work boots, I'd recommend you give these a shot. Give them a few weeks to break in and they will be as comfortable as house slippers. August 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by comfortable and durable product. I have been wearing Red Wing Boots/shoes for over 20 years and they last long and are comfortable. I wore the model 207 for years then it was discontinued. Bring it back, they were the most comfortable and durable. July 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Red Wing 606 boot Very good boot. Needs a week or so to break-in. Leather rubs/squeaks. Should go away after oiling some. Looking to wear these a long time. June 24, 2015
