Rated 5 out of 5 by Red Wing Lifer Worked all phases of construction at some point of my life. Always wore Red Wings. Grandfather even worked in the plant during the 20's. So I naturally went to Irish Setters as a kid. But working for brick layers, but the wet mud and concrete ate up the leather and they were hard to get on/off. So when I was working as an electrician on a large, multi-story project I tried the 606 boot with speed laces. LOVED EM!!! You can walk concrete all day and your feet feel great. Those 606's just died (after many years) as the toe cup material (non-steel toes) cracked (getting wet and dried out from plowing) and the repair guys say I am out of luck. They still LOOK very good, but the crease is ripping up my big toe. There should be some sort of fix... Would honestly rather see my new truck go under the ice, than loose my boots. Guess I will be having a bon fire to bid them fair well! They served me well. Good boot are not cheap boots and they were some of the best cash I ever spent. Consider staying home one Friday night and they are paid for. Cheap if you put it that way... Pluse you (and your feet) will feel great Saturday morning! February 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by 606 I've had the 606 for 5 years and the sole finally broke.I wear the boots every day as a general contractor.I paid $177 for the boots and it was well worth the money.I've had cheap boots and they just lead to back problems. January 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by best work boot I've ever had! The 606 boot is the best work boot i have ever worn. i was an automotive technician for 10 years and now work on wind turbines. these boots have held up great in both fields. The super sole on these boots is awesome, the most comfortable sole to walk on and the sole hardly shows any wear. the money spent on these boots is well worth it. after buying cheap uncomfortable boots every 6 months ill gladly spend the money on these and only replace them every 2-3 years. will definitely buy these again as long as they keep making them. Rated 2 out of 5 by Poor sole I have a pair of two-year-old 606s, about the tenth pair of Red Wings I've owned. I tend to take good care of my boots using Red Wing oil and waterproofing regularly. The uppers are in fine shape still but the soles disintegrated rapidly. My local RW dealer said that they would not be fixed by Red Wing, though the problem with this sole seems to be well-known. None of my other RW boots have had issues - so this is about a 10% failure rate. Nonetheless, I would be cautious with a brand that I previously had great confidence in. January 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great work boot!!! I've had these boots for going on 2 years. Great leather that holds up well. I spend a lot of time crawling and working in attics/crawl spaces. The soles are very durable and offer great support weather your climbing a ladder or stepping/balancing on rafters all day. Keeping the leather oiled up will allow this boot to last for years to come with the occasional resoling as needed. These boots do well in both extremely high and low temps. I'm an HVACR technician by trade and we use several different types of chemicals that are corrosive on a daily basis. The leather holds up very well to this. November 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by New soles for my 606's Just received my 606's back from the factory for a fresh set of treads..I work construction and walk on concrete all day. The aztec sole can't be beat for comfort.!!! The boots are sized to fit your foot and last for many years compared to other boots.Pay the extra bucks for a Red Wing Made in USA boot. You won't regret it. November 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A comfortable boot that offers great protection and can shine up nice too. I am a fourth year medical student who rides a motorcycle. I needed boots that were comfortable walking around the hospital all day, looked good enough to wear with a tie, and protected my feet while I rode my motorcycle to and from work. These boots have proven to be up to the task. I have some Red Wing orthotic insoles that I bought with the boots. My feet stay comfortable even on the hard hospital flooring day in and day out. I keep them polished. People think I'm wearing dress shoes until I sit cross-legged and my pant leg comes up. If kept in good condition, they are waterproof as well; and some duct-tape to seal your leg to the top of the boot is all that is needed to keep your feet dry during a ride in a downpour if you get caught wearing regular pants. The waterproof-ness of these boots is also nice when bodily fluids come spilling down onto your feet in the hospital. I have had these boots for 1 & 1/2 years and they still wear great. The soles are in good condition, about half worn. There is a spot of wear where the left toe contacts my motorcycle shifter, but so far it hasn't been a problem. I expect to wear this pair for about another year with no issues. August 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A) They fit B) Very durable C) Safe, do not slip (on anything) I have been wearing Red Wing for about 40 years, mostly 926 but of late 606. I have a short, very wide foot, but a narrow heel (I'm afraid to walk bare-foot an the beach during duck season). Red Wing can fit me, they are about the only guys who can.The heels on the 926 would wear down quickly, but now with the 606, they wear like iron. I buy a pair a year for my employees as safety shoes, we do commercial refrigeration, and a lot of fast food. You don't want to slip by a deep fryer. We use highly alkaline coil cleaners on the equipment, but wipe the leather down and oil 'em up every now and then, they last long and look good. I might extend the shoe purchase interval for the guys, but great value, great shoe and cheaper than workman's comp claims. August 9, 2014
