Rated 3 out of 5 by Hassletoreview Uncomfortable I bought this shoe because it came in a B width and was also EH rated non safety toed. Overall, it is a very ridgid shoe and mainly lacks padding around the ankle area. Also, not much padding in the bed of the shoe for heal and ball of foot either. Slippery on snow and wet surfaces. For the price, I am not impressed with this shoe compared to other Red Wing products I've purchased in the past. January 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by otterguy after 2 pair This is my second pair. They hold up quite well, however the molded-on sole tends to separate from the leather a little. After a long time, and I wear shoes a long time, the leather fatigues and cracks along the sole edge about the time the sole edge really starts to separate from the leather. Stitching has always held up. The toe box is large and comfortable and the fit has a deep feel. They are great in average office wear, day after day, but I don't wear them for long walks. Rated 5 out of 5 by SparkyIBEWMpls The 8637 shoe is very good for my hammer toes The top part of the shoe is soft and has more room for my hammer toes. It's the only shoe out of 19 of my shoes that I can wear with my orthotics with out pain. After four years of 85% wear time and the shoe still look very good. The shoe will need some shoe cream very 10 weeks and mink oil.. Rated 4 out of 5 by Crusty Very nice. Initial fit might be strange for a few.. Materials are very good. Before break in, it seemed the shoe might be too deep, for me. Initially, the top edge of the quarters rubbed the bottom side of the bumps at the sides of my ankles. Right and left lateral malleoli lost some skin. That does not appear to be an ongoing fit problem. After wearing a few times, with wool socks for ankle protection, they are broke-in. Very comfortable, now, with any or no socks. No more rub spots. I think this pre-break-in fit problem would be rather uncommon. It was worth toughing it out. Very good traction, on wet pavement. Good thing. Rains here all the time. April 21, 2014
