Rated 5 out of 5 by Lasted longer than expected I bought these boots to replace some less expensive ones that I had worn out in the oilfield. I know from experience that most boots last about 6 months before they fall apart. These made it a while past that. I actually got a year and a half out oc them. The break in was a bit tough (took about a week of wearing them), but once they got there, I loved them. Hate to let them go, but the sides finally blew out. The salesman who sold them to me said I wouldn't be satisfied with other boots. He was right. August 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The 2231 is an oldie but a goodie This model has been around for decades. Other models have come and gone, but the 2231 stands the test of time. This boot does not have a removable insole like other models, but I have found that the 2231 fits better and appears to be slightly lighter than the pull ons requiring the insole. For me, the rounded toe of the 2231 is very comfortable, and the steel toe cap does not pinch the toes. The mini lug sole provides just enough grip on all surfaces, and ensures solid footing for safety.I remember buying my first pair of Red Wing boots back in 1987 at the age of 19, and I spent a whole week's pay check at my landscaping job on a pair of 1104's with that beautiful Oro Russet leather. I thought I was crazy spending so much on a pair of work boots, but I got tired of wearing out Kmart boots every three months, that were so uncomfortable. It was the best investment in footwear I have ever made, and I have been wearing Redwing shoes proudly ever since.Working for an electric utlity requires rugged footwear, and these 2231's certainly fit the bill.
