Rated 5 out of 5 by Finally!! I finally found a pair of boots that don't make me want to crawl out to my truck at the end of a 12 hour day. But the only downfall is I got these boots but in the 8" steel toe version which they just discontinued. So hopefully they keep making this version for years to come. I'll pay whatever the cost is as long as the quality and longevity is there. I'm an auto body tech and on concrete floors all day 5-6 days a week for 10-12 hours and these boots let me do that in comfort. I have a pair of the 914's and even those boots at the end of the day had my lower back and heels in pain. Not with these boots, they have good structure and support which is what I like. They seem to be a little narrow in the toe area though. It took about 10 days to fully break in with a little pain on the back of my heels from heel slip. Also they were very stiff the first three days, the leather and the outsole. But now they are broke in and what a sigh of relief. I don't mind spending extra money on red wings because not only do you get a quality American made product but you get the service at the store. Which has always been a great experience for me. Thank you red wing for making a quality product, and try to keep the number of American made boots up as compared to the overseas ones. All of us proud hard working blue collar men appreciate it! Rated 4 out of 5 by Good but changing? This is my 3rd or 4th pair of this exact boot. I do not even look for any other pair. It is a heavy boot with a rubber sole but wears/lasts very well. The leather is outstanding. This most recent purchase, for some reason, does not fit as well or as comfortable as the previous 2 pairs. It is like there is extra room/material in the left boot that causes it to bend where it should not. Is this becasue it is now made in the USA with imported materials? I can only wonder. My first 2 - 3 pairs were made inthe USA, it still says so on the tongue as I simply had the older pairs re-soled. This newest pair says made in the USA with imported materials. Is it possible the QA overseas is not up to par as in the USA resulting in the poor fit?Overall, I will still give this boot another chance and recommend this boot as the first pairs were outstanding. Rated 5 out of 5 by The "Cadillac" of boots This is the best work boot Red Wing produces. I've had my pair since 2002! I've resoled them recently and hope to get another 12 years out of them! July 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Framing carpenter I have owned at least 6 airs of these and in my business they last about three years. My guys replace their boots about every 6 months. These boots can take a lot of abuse and can stick to the roof. The stores around me won't carry them because they are too expensive to stock so I have to order them usually. Only boots I wear (in summer spring and fall not winter) July 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Only boot I have used for 20 years! Quality baby, that's what describes this boot! I've been in the carpenter business for 30 years, when I found this boot I never looked at another one. June 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best all around work boot I've ever owned I've owned at least ten pairs of these boots in the last 15 years. I work in them, play in them, I've even hiked up to Camp Muir in the spring with a pair (although I wouldn't do that again bad planning on my part but it was all I had at the time). Comfortable out of the get go and tough. Keep a coat of wax on them and they always look good enough to wear out to dinner. I always seem to wear out the soles long before the leather and have tried to resole them a couple of times but it never feels the same. So don't stop making these boots until I'm dead.
