Rated 5 out of 5 by Best all around work boot I've ever owned I've owned at least ten pairs of these boots in the last 15 years. I work in them, play in them, I've even hiked up to Camp Muir in the spring with a pair (although I wouldn't do that again bad planning on my part but it was all I had at the time). Comfortable out of the get go and tough. Keep a coat of wax on them and they always look good enough to wear out to dinner. I always seem to wear out the soles long before the leather and have tried to resole them a couple of times but it never feels the same. So don't stop making these boots until I'm dead. Rated 5 out of 5 by you don't buy the 963's....you earn them. You'd better never quit making this boot! Its the best looking, highest quality and most comfortable. If you stop making this I'd be crushed. Just bought my third pair. March 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best boot I've ever had I am a large man 6' tall and 300 pounds. I am in the trades and walk on concrete all day everyday and anybody that knows how it is too walk on concrete everyday knows not too take there boots lightly, I have been wearing these 963's for around 6 years now and they are still doing great only reason I will be buying another pair is so I can have these resoled then I will just trade them out. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Shoe This shoe is of the highest standard. Everything about it oozes with quality.Sizing: I am a 9 in dress shoes, but I purchased a 10 in Red Wings and the length is perfect (both my Red Wings and the dress shoes, however, were a 43). I normally wear a D width, but I found these on clearance and purchased a B width which was sufficient for my foot.I have had them for 18 months and the high quality construction has meant they've held up. I expect to wear them for several more years. As I said I bought them on clearance (60% off) and it was the best money I have ever spent on shoes. I would consider them a bargain at full price and would gladly pay $260 to replace them one day. I couldn't recommend a shoe more highly. January 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Weeks & Weeks of trial, Found the perfect boot with the 963! Comfort- Make sure you get your size, don't compromise on width, and size.Socks-take a pair with you that you are used to wearing.Oil- I applied mink oil to help with the break in.I believe I tried all the brands there are in boots in my area, went to many retailers, and none were as comfortable as the Red Wing 963. I first went into a Red Wing store and was convinced with the employee that I needed a D width, wore it for almost a month. With the 30 day guarantee approaching, I decided that the comfort was not what I expected, right foot felt as it was crushing, along top lace area hives would form. I went and got the EE (wide) size, wouldn't you know it, this was what I was needing.I have always wore wide shoes, Earlier I mentioned to wear the socks you will wear with the boots to try on. Socks do make a difference, I wear Gold Toe socks, simply because there are no stitching on the edges. I do not feel the stitching in the boots. I have owned the boots for a little over 2 months, and they feel like a sneaker.Price of the boot is costly, but so are your feet. I have always believed, take care of your feet and your feet will take care of you. These are truly the Cadillac of all makers, no pun intended. But I do work at GM. November 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great boots I have been wearing Red wings for over 40 years now. At first I was wearing the 202's, but for the last 8 years have been wearing the 963's. Both boots are very comfortable and durable, but as a carpenter, I found that a little more traction was needed so I switched to the 963's. These boots are heavier but fit my narrow feet very well. Yes, Red wings do cost more than many other brands out there, but I feel that they are worth the extra money. I am able to resole my boots at least once, sometimes twice before they are shot. The leather is that tough! These are great boots! November 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by You can't beat this boot I bought my first pair of 963s 13 years ago and fell in love with them. I worked on concrete surfaces and was up and down ladders all day long. With other boots I'd be dying to get them off at the end of the day and soak my feet, but with these my feet felt great. I wear them every day, all day. I work in them, I hike in them, I camp, fish and hunt in them. The 963s are my everything boots. I've had them resoled with a Vibram sole which wears like iron. I've kept them cleaned and oiled regularly and the leather is in amazing condition considering what they've been put through; the Ozark back country can be very harsh. I took my oldest son who just turned 20 down to the Red Wing store last week to buy him his first pair; he went with the 606. I decided to splurge and bought myself a new pair of 963s. My 13 year old pair is still in great shape and I didn't need to replace them, I just wanted to get another pair in case the model gets discontinued... don't do it Red Wing. I plan on rotating them daily and look forward to another decade plus with these two pair. October 19, 2014
