Rated 5 out of 5 by The best fitting boot I've ever worn. My family has been in masonry for the last 32 years and my self the last 16. Coming out of high school I didn't want o spend too much on my boots, because I thought I had so many better things to spend it on. Masonry puts your boots in contact with mortar all the time and you are constantly bumping cement block out side of that you have to deal with mud and dirt. All this takes a toll on your feet and boots. I was buying a pair of $50-$70 boots every 6 months it seemed. So were all the other guys at work though so I thought it was just the norm. Dad / the boss, always wore redwings, and suggested I look into getting them. His advise was "If you don't have a great deal of money to spend on tools you should buy quality. Quality costs lest in the long run." He was right. Every pair of Redwing 2406's and 2408's I had after that lasted me at least 2½ years. Some lasted 4. The biggest reason I had to replace my boots was the sole wore out. With a little Tuff Toe on the outside of the steel toe and these things lasted. Like I said the sole was the first to go if I could have replaced it my boots would have lasted an other year easy. February 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Boots Made In USA...PERIOD! I'm wearing my 5 year old Red Wings right now. I wear them everywhere. Work, Hunting, don't matter. These are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. The sales rep knew his stuff too...fitted me in a size I thought was wrong to begin with but found out it was me who was wrong. He threw in a pair of cushions because I stand all day, 6 days a week-12 hours a day. I used to go through a pair of "cheap" boots in 6-12 months easy. I walk in metal chips and oil all day, I'm a machinist by trade, for 36 years now. I can't remember how many pairs of boots I've been through but I can tell you this, these boots are the best decision I ever made. There's no going back now, I'm a Red Winger for life. Worth every penny and then some. Thanks Red Wing...I'm very satisfied. November 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Best Boots For ME RED WING COMFORT I have been wearing these boots for 5 years and I'm ready to get another pair of these FINE boots.I wear them every wear including on the boat because they will not mark up your floor.I tell every body how they are the best boot for your money ...You cannot put a price on comfort and safety.I work in the Elevator Industry,I'm very hard on these boots They last...THE BEST BOOTS EVER November 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best boot I've ever owned. I'm on my second pair of these 2408s. They're more comfortable then my tennis shoes by a long shot. Very durable as well. Well worth the price. October 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Boot These boots feel like your wearing tennis shoes at work all day. Working for the railroad you are on your feet all day switching on ballast, grease, oil anything you can throw at them. I know they say no waterproofing but I have yet to had them leak. When cold weather comes around a good warm sock is all you need. Can praise them all day but just a simple thanks to Red Wing for making great boot that the blue collar american can wear and trust. Thanks Red Wing August 29, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by The 2408 lacks This boot sole will not handle digging ditches. The sole is not safe for oilly surfaces. The steel toe comes lose from the inside after squatting for long pieriods. I have worked oil field for the past seven years and have to buy a new pair of boots about every 6 months because they do not last even when I use the proper oils and proper up keep methods. This is the only boot I have found in my size that I can work in. Other than that I love red wing boots and will continue buying and wearing them. I have wore red wing boots for 18 years. Red wing boots are comfortable in general and I love wearing them. August 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Family affair As a kid I remember watching my dad get up and strap on his 2408's every morning. He always bragged about his shoes and that's all he ever wanted for a gift. When it came time for me to work on my own I knew I wanted redwings. After looking at loggers I went down to the store and got fitted. As I waited, a man walked in wearing the same 2408's my father had and I desided to try on a pair. I fell in love with them and wore them for about 3 years before buying a new pair today and I couldn't be happier. I've worn them on long hikes, in auto shops, wood working and construction and even on the ranch. These shoes hold up to anything you throw at them and with a little spay silicone can be completely waterproof and still breath. All I can say is, I guess dad was right April 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tried the rest, found the best boot I'll ever use I use to use cheap boots for work until my company started offering boot allowances and referred us to red wing. I went to the local store here in El Paso, TX and the sales associate measured my foot and referred me to a 2408. I wanted a set of logger boots, but he recommended the 2408 due to me having flat feet, it would be easier on my back. Boy was he right! I had my first pair for over 3 years, I still have them, use them for around the house projects, but then I was going to try a few other brands as others tried them and recommended, like Chippewa, danner and Justin, I tried chippewas and Justins and they were no match against my 2408 red wings, by the 3rd hour at work my feet were dying, had to come back home to get my old red wings. So I returned those other boots, went back to my red wing store and bought my 2nd set of 2408 boot. I work in the communications industry, Im on ladders climbing poles and on a bucket truck. These boots are all I will wear. thanks Red Wing for making a quality, comfortable, long lasting boot. Well worth the money April 6, 2014
