Rated 5 out of 5 by Will only buy redwings boots Listen when it comes to these boots you get what u pay for . I am on my second pair they are four years old . I work in a cooler where it is wet, cold and slippery . These boot keep my feet warm and dry . I have bought all different brands of boots over the years and have not found none better or tougher . They are heavy but they keep my feet safe . Another thing I would like to say is the bottom of the boot is made buy the same company that make the ones for the Marines so if it is tough enough for them it must be good enough for you . Also if you have a wide foot or hard to find size they will order it for you . July 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great boot I use this boot as a motorcycle boot and absolutely love it. Very comfortable. If your feet tend to the wide side, get the EE width. I bought a D width originally but after wearing them a couple times, decided that the they were uncomfortably tight. Took them back to the store and exchanged for EE. Perfect fit. Also, the eyelets are tough on the laces so ask for some extras from the store. March 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the steel toe The best boot I have ever had. I would recommend it to anyone. February 26, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Shoelaces break The eyelets on these break the shoelaces very quickly. The company will provide me with a lifetime supply of shoelaces, but I need to carry a spare set every time I decide to use them. As for a solution to this problem, the response I got to my e-mail reporting this was that I might be able to find a local shop to replace the eyelets. I had only heard praises for their work boots and casual shoes, but this specific product is (in my experience) not good. December 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ideal & perfect for mortuary removals I've had a pair of these boots for easily 10 years. I do removals for mortuaries. Going in and out of refers, where it's extremely slippery, or even on a residence call in the rain coming down a staircase carrying someone's loved one, I never had a problem. The steel toe is placed perfectly in case you ever drop an acupied oversized casket on your foot, which happens more than you think. The one feature I loved the most though was the easy to clean surface when a decedent decides to purge all over your red wings boots. Blood, urine & even some embalming fluid would come right off. I look forward to buying another pair once I wear these ones out. December 3, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Motorcycle Boot Love these boots, fit was spot on, very comfortable to ride in. A little heavy if you are doing any walking. Absolutely waterproof, my feet never get wet when I get caught in the rain. I have been wearing them for almost 4 years now and would definitely buy them again if and when I need a new pair.Only negative I can think of is they are a little heavy and very stiff till I got them broken in. Rated 4 out of 5 by i dig holes I do new construction plumbing for a living, which means digging holes before there is cement. They're comfortable and durable. i have put these boots in water countless times, dug I don't know how many holes, and walked I dont know how far on cement; all in these boots. I have owned them for two years, and now I need to get new soles on them. I have two problems with them, other wise it's a perfect boot.1) they don't fit my foot well. I needed to go up a size to fit the steel toe. So I need to wear two pairs of socks.2) the stitching on the front part of leather is coming loose after two years and it can't be repaired. So I won't put on new soles if the leather is coming apart. (It should be noted that I did not care for these boots the way I should have)I would buy this boot again, and I would care for it better, oil it more often, rinse them off when I got home, take out the bottom and dry them. But they don't fit my foot well, so I am finding a better fitting boot that I hope will live up to the standard that these boots set.Put on the tough toe, it will out last the boot and keep your boots nice longer. Rated 4 out of 5 by Life-Long Red Wing owner no longer I bought my first pair of 971's about 4 years ago. I wanted a work boot that I could wear all day, and also wear when I ride my motorcycle. The first pair were perfect, with the exception that the leather surface scratches easily and don't look so great after a year working in heavy maintenance (who cares what they look like?# Since my company pays a good chunk of my expense, I purchased another pair about 2 years ago. I noticed that they were no longer made in the USA but in China. With that came a boot that no longer fit properly #too narrow), and the eyelets were sharp and chewed up laces)... as I ordered them at a Red Wing's store, the guy said they don't make them in a wider width. I ended up giving them to goodwill, but still wear the original pair on occasion. If they ever make them in the USA again, I would purchase these again. But, alas, they don't. Don't waste your money.
