Rated 4 out of 5 by Sturdy and Tough I bought this boot because I needed something sturdy that would hold up to construction site conditions and protect my feet. Besides being well-built, tough, and water-resistant, this boot looks good and the 8" height protects my ankles from rolling.I'm satisfied with the boot, but the tread pattern on the sole could be slightly more aggressive. I work on all sorts of surfaces, inside and outside, and for the most part, these boots are slip-resistant. For example, I can walk through oil or soapy water on smooth concrete and not slip. However, I may slip walking across dewy grass, through slick mud, or on snow and ice. The tread is easy to clean mud from, which is good, but is not optimal for working in muddy conditions, such as trenching the day after a rainstorm. For the most part, the soles have kept me on my feet, but if I worked outside more, I might switch to a boot with a more aggressive tread. I may ask for something with more bite when I get these re-soled this fall.Overall, the 953 is a good-looking boot that can withstand hard work conditions and I would definitely buy it again. Rated 5 out of 5 by Worn every day for over 2 years The title says it all, I've worn these boots basically every day for over 2 years, to work, walking, around the house, out, everywhere, they are the coolest looking boots, the most comfortable, sturdy and overall badass out there, period. Please don't change this model, I'll be ordering new ones soon, and will keep on May 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by most comfortable boot ever I have owned 4 pair of these boots over the last 12 years and I am ordering my 5th pair soon. In my opinion this is the most comfortable boot made, period ! I've bought other boots and worn them for a while. I end up throwing them in the closet or giving them away and putting my 953's back on. I wear them to work, to the mall, to the amusement parks and hunting. These boots are more comfortable than the best sneakers. Red Wing please don't change, alter or discontinue these boots and I will always be a faithful customer. P.S. Your lineman boots are great too ! I've owned a few pair of those back when I were pole climbing everyday. March 30, 2014
