Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT PRODUCT WOULD NOT CHANGE FOR ANY OTHER I HAVE BEEN WEARING BOOTS FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS AND HAVE GOTTEN ACCUSTOM TO CHANGE, HOWEVER AFTER THIS ONE, CHANGE IS NOT AN OPTION. IT IS LIGHT AND WHEN COMES TO DURABILITY TRUST ME. I AM JUST OVER 300LBS, AND MINES BOOTS IS 2.5 YEARS AND COUNTING. July 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by If the shoe fits, wear it My old shoes kept wearing out too quickly (6 months or less) and would start hurting my feet as the insole fell apart. I spend a great deal of time on the toe area or crouched over in rough and dirty tight spaces (HVAC install and service). I bought these almost two years ago and just now need to replace them. The insole is still intact and has the same cushion as the day they were new, allowing these to be comfortable for the 10-16 hour work days even two years after purchase. June 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A solid, comfortable safety shoe After happily owning three pair of these, I thought I'd better write a good review befor Red Wing decides to phase this model out!I've been wearing steel-toed shoes at work for 22 years and have gone through 6 different brands, more than 10 different models. Everyone has different shaped feet, but for me, most of the time the safety toe cap is the make-or-break comfort element. Some have been too pointy and squished my big and/or little toe (and I don't have an overly wide foot), but most toe caps have felt like the back edge bends down and rubs/chafes the top of my toes when I walk. The 6703 model (and all Redwings with the 224 last) fits me all the way around: toe cap not too pointy and doesn't rub the tops of my toes, heel cup that doesn't dig into my Achilles' tendon but also doesn't slip in the heel, stable shank but also a flexible forefoot, a very mild heel lift (helps my lower back), a tongue which stays in place.Durability has been acceptable. These shoes typically last me two years of 5-day workweeks, 75% in a carpeted office (mostly sitting) and 10% in a concrete-floored warehouse, 15% walking in and out of work through an asphalt parking lot. My FitBit tells me I usually walk around 4 miles/day at work. I've seen some small cracks develop between the lugs, some lugs start to peel in a few spots, but mostly the tread wears evenly to almost smooth. The real reason I end up getting a new pair is because I've beat up the upper with scrapes and cuts and they simply look too shabby for the office. In these last 3 pair I've not had one quality defect, either functionally or cosmetic.Hopefully this detail will convince others to give these shoes a try and convince Red Wing to keep making them. Rated 5 out of 5 by The Best shoe I have bought. This is the first pair of comfortable Red Wing safety toe shoes I have bought. They have this "broken in" feel built in. Bravo Red Wing, Bravo! July 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great shoe The shoe holds up well enough. I dont take care of them. I wear them everyday in a plant setting. Having a shoe rather than boot seems to be more forgiving when I'm monkeying around pipes and whatnot in the plant. I am rough on the shoes and the leather has worn in the toe less than I had expected. These have been my favorite shoes so far. Ill probably just buy a few pairs in the coming month and call it done.
