Rated 4 out of 5 by My fourth pair I work in a machine shop and natural gas turbine maintenance. This is my fourth pair and I love these boots. I have a narrow foot and these used to come in narrow sizes. I cut the guard off and just wear them like a protected toe boot. they usually last me three years. I think Red Wing stopped offering this model for a while, so I was thrilled when they came back with this boot. October 12, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Considering a new style After having a pair of RedWings last me for over 7 years I headed straight back.So far I am concerned that this boot will not last nearly as long. The leather attaching the guard is about to wear out on the toe end after only a year of use. The internal foot-bead leaves little room for insoles. Like another post I was able to get an arch support in after some break in. The lack of a pad around the top cuff makes it hard to tighten to secure the boot without cutting of circulation. Rated 2 out of 5 by Leaves my legs feeling sore The absence of the tongue and top padding normally seen on taller Red Wing boots left my legs sore for days. Never got used to the change. Also, the absence of a removable footbed/insole prevented me from adding a new insole once the current ones wear out. Also, I could not add a pair of insole because it made the boots too tight. Rated 5 out of 5 by definitely the best metatarsal boot I've ever worn. These have to be the most expensive work boots on the market in this category. I purchased mine used and cannot say I'd pay new price for them but they are absolutely the best. Very comfortable and soles are super tough. The Main thing is comfort. Internal met guard boots are very stiff and cumbersome. These fit and flex like a regular boot with protection on top. Awesome boots! October 14, 2014
