Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Safety Without Too Much Weight I love the metatarsal guards. I've had these boots for a year now and they have actually saved my feet from a rolling 6x6x8' piece of cedar falling off my work bench. Couldn't ask for better protection. Soles are pretty worn after one year's use but that is to be expected when you're on your feet for 8+ hours a day. June 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent I work Auto Body and have owned these boots for about two years. These are without a doubt the most comfortable boot I have ever worn for standing on a concrete floor all day. Excellent ankle support and perfectly balanced cushioning for working on a hard surface. Much of the comfort comes from the soft leather that the boots are made of, which can be a problem as it is easily damaged. I combat this by applying Red Wing Toe Armor to the toe of the boots about once a year and keeping the rest of the boot oiled. Aside from the scuffs and gouges in the leather (which so far have not gone deep enough to hurt them), these have been bulletproof. They breathe well enough to be worn during NC summers but are also plenty warm when worn with thick socks. Overall I love these boots and will be buying another pair of Red Wings. However, with these boots and any other steel toe boot some sort of protection for the toes is a necessity, whether it be a coating like the "Toe Armor" or a separate toe protector. November 4, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Boot... I have had these boots for a month and im very happy I decided on them I do all types of masonry restoration and need the protection working on a parking garage right now very uneven concrete surfaces October 25, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Too Small Ordered boots through a retailer according to measurements they took, first week was ok, then extreme pain from the front half of my foot being squeezed for so long. Have owned several different styles of red wings, all have given me sore feet, not impressed. I work in 90 degree and up heat year round indoors on cement floors 45hrs or a week, standing all day. Unfortunately my work only gives discounts for red wings so I guess I'll keep getting a different pair every year until I find a pair that doesn't hurt. September 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by If I have had more comfortable steel toe boots, I do not remember them These boots are worth every penny I paid for them, but I did not feel that way when I left the store. It took about a week of 12-16 hour days, after a short break-in period and I was hooked. I have come to expect swollen and painful feet after 10-12 hours and just rolled with it for many years.Necessity required I have a certain boot with certain features and the result of time pressure, store stock and initial fit left me with the model 4433. I did have to buy the premium othotic insole to make up for a little looseness but again, the comfort was incredible.I am semi-retired now and even when I am not working these boots are on my feet. They are easily the most comfortable footwear I own with one exception. Since the exception can not be found these days I will leave it at that. I am already planning a purchase of my second pair for Sundays. Now the cons: These boots seem overly susceptible to cuts. I have small roughly circular places about 3-5 mm in diameter where the leather has been sliced and peeled up. I almost failed a safety inspection on the boots until a closer look revealed the toe cap was not visible. I am a Project Manager now and do not have anywhere near the same contact with the work of earlier days, so I'm not certain what is going on but a repair is required. However, even knowing this going in, I would buy them again. July 26, 2014
