Rated 5 out of 5 by Exceeds expectations I am a diesel truck mechanic and have been wearing these boots for approx 9 months and could not be happier. Very rugged build but yet broke in almost immediately. Some days I am standing for all 10-12 hours and the comfort for a logging boot is very surprising. They perform equally well if I am kneeling or crouching, none of the pinching that you get at the end of the steel toe that I have experienced before. Also there is no sign the split that I have gotten with every other steel toe boots at the metatarsal. I live in central Mass and after the 9 1/2 feet of snow this winter and following slush I can say the waterproofing performed as I hoped. A 125+ lb clutch fell on the tip of them and the machined edge put a 1" gash in the toe as it would have any leather boot but the cut has not expanded in the 2 months since then. I have spent good money on boots before and began to expect that boots would last 6-9 months but clearly I am going to get way more than that. I am a convert.More money upfront sure but over time spending more on boots that last 2-3 times longer will pay for themselves.I purchased these from a Red Wing store that opened up near me. Excellent service and free laces for life. Little thing that goes a long way. They said I can bring it for cleaning whenever I want but I feel bad doing that because these suckers are pretty dirty.I have a medium volume forefoot with a lower volume heel and found a standard (D/E) width to fit very well. I did end up going 1/2 size larger than I typically do. September 26, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great fit and comfortable boot I wear my boots 10-12 hrs. a day and am on my feet for the majority of my work.I work service and line calls for a communication and technology company so whether up ladder, on a set of hooks or standing in a customer's house or under it, my body doesn't pay the price of some of the more inferior boots. My company purchases new boots on a 2 yr. rotation and for the last 8 yrs. these are the only boots I feel comfortable wearing. July 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great railroad boot Excellent boot for railroad workers. Feet are dry, great support for ankles. Only flaw is the top eyelet, should be a hook. July 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by best boots out there Been wearing red wings for 7 years now. Never any break in time. They are extremely comfortable right out of the box. I have insulated composite toe for winter and non insulated steel toe for summer. wear for two years then re sole for another year. Every 3 years i buy new pair. I also have a pair if steel toe engineer boots for riding my bike. Love red wing boots. The pair i just bought i just found out were made in china. This is a first. A little nervous about it. If they fail i will return and pay the difference for american made. Only complaint is shoe strings they fail rather quickly. Other than that red wings are the best boots made. I eear for 2 years re sole and get another year out of them before buying new ones. I am a customer for life. In the future i will make sure they are made in the USA June 29, 2015
