Rated 5 out of 5 by Great while they lasted. Bought these boots while working installing power lines through uncut terrain in the mountains of WV 18 months ago. These boots literally have several hundred hard miles on them. A lot of climbing rocky hillsides at 4000' and climbing power line poles (Spike climbing.)The entire upper has held up superbly. The zipper action has performed like it did the day I wore them out of the store. The laces are still original, and the insoles have stay in them and not experienced too much breakdown (eventually all hard worn boots begin to compress and offer a diminishing amount of cushion, not so much so with these.)These have begun to split across the boot in the valleys between the treads in the ball of my foot, particularly the right boot. This has allowed water in occasionally, but the soles has yet to fully separate (tear.)For what I have in the boots $$ wise, and the amount of abuse I have subjected them too, I would highly recommend them.Oh, and I wear them riding the motorcycle back and forth to work everyday. Excellent there as well. November 10, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pretty good for the right environment I work in residential and commercial HVAC, so I'm on my feet non stop. I'm also outside every day all year round. I bought these 3 years ago, along with some supportive insoles. They've been pretty good until now. They left sole has separated, but that's no big surprise given how much I abuse them. Only problem I've had with them is the fabric patch on the right side split. This is likely because I am on one knee or squat quite a bit, and it didn't hold up to the pressure. That happened about a year after I had them. I got wet feet a lot, but just stuck it out until now. Overall a fine boot, just know that it will not hold up to a lot of pressure on the fabric seems September 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by field director I bought mine 4 years ago and wear them whenever I'm in the field - found out they ARE waterproof the hard way (but my socks weren't.) They are extremely comfortable. May 20, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Uncomfortable Beyond Belief On a recommendation from a coworker I bought these and they are awful. It took me a long time to admit it too, because of how expensive they were ($250) and how feature-packed they are described as, and because they also look cool. However, they rub on my ankle until raw, and I have looked in there and tried to feel around for some thing out of place or some protrusion that could be adjusted or snipped, and the is nothing that can be done. It's just the way they were made. When flexed, they bend in awkward spots, so you feel the boot creasing on your foot. They are awkwardly heavy. If I hadn't had success with redwings in the past I would never go back. January 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good for me. I'm a firefighter/paramedic and I put these boots to the test. My current pair is my second pair and I'm on about year two with these. The first pair lasted about three years of 48 hour work weeks in high-hazard environments. They are waterproof and I have never had a problem with my feet getting wet. I also purchased the zipper kit for the boots making them easy to slip on when a run comes in. I recommend these boots to everyone I know. November 20, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by will not last in real construction world Heel was worn within a year the inside is torn and very worn. After one time in the rain they were soaked inside and now smell like the ocean at low tide. First time last time with red wings even if my company pays for them i will give them to a gardener because as an electrician these boots are the worst i have ever owned. My company believes they should last 3 years and will not replace them well mine lasted less than 1 so now they sit while I wear another brand.
