Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor sole Ive had my 2414s for 1 1/2 years and the sole is already coming apart i dont think this is normal ,if red wing doesnt do anything about this i guess ill just have to take mt business else where. May 12, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Durable but Uncomfortable These boots were recommended by some of my co-workers who brag how comfortable they are right out of the box. My experience was not so positive. Right out of the box, boots are quite heavy and there was an issue with the way the tongue folded on one boot which caused issues with comfort. I spend 80% of day on my feet, and quite often, I could not make 6 hrs before having to remove boots to rest feet, Sole of boots has very little padding and I have tried numerous different insoles to compensate. Alas, after 14 months I have given up on these boots, the balls of my feet could not take another moment wearing them. On the plus side, these boots show very little wear, some boots I have previously owned would be worn out after 6 months. Unfortunately I think comfort was sacrificed for durability. At my place of work, it seems to be either you love these boots are you absolutely hate them. No in-between. April 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Nice Boot Have 6 months with the boots and just went through a typical northeast winter. At first I hated the boots. Thought they were too heavy, bulky, and tight around my feet (compared to the Timberland Titan pro which were 1/3 of the weight and had a king toe). After conditioning them a few times and wearing them regularly at work, the boots really started to show their value. Very comfortable to wear and very good construction. The price is very steep but definitely worth it if your company pays half of it. March 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by hardcore boot I'm Malaysian and I'm very proud of RED WINGS u.s.a.Goretech 2414 is my second. the 1st one is PECOS 1155 and my 3rd is the iconic 10877.It was said that , in rough usage.. with well maintained, a pair can last up to 5 years.. its true.after 5 years the outsole of my 1155 worn out only 5% and the 2414 is only 3%.shheesshh.. i think i'll die first before all my boots started to worn off totally.well.. thanks to REDWINGS for their work boots. Highly recommended to those who still searching for work boots.choose the right boots for the right kind of working environment. Price doesn't matter but quality and comfort come first. In wet environment (here in malaysia due to heavy rain) , no boots beat REDWINGS GORETECH 2414... stylish, comfort durability. January 12, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 So far so good The reason I only gave these boots a four of 5 is because I have only owned them one year, so they have yet to pass the test of time. Very durable and applicable to a wide range of environments. Being out of Buffalo I dont enjoy the requirement of wearing steel toes in the winter but these ones are great. Ive dropped numerous things, including 400-800 pound drums on my feet and didnt feel it. Also build fences on the side during the summer and they are great at withholding dirt and concrete. A good buy for sure, one thing worth noting is that i wash them and use the special leather conditioner made by red wing on them about every month and a half and am now noticing peeling on the toes, i guess this can be expected since they have the most contact with rough surfaces January 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fire Truck Mechanic I work indoors and out during all seasons, in both extremely wet and dry environments. I needed a boot that could follow me through the seasons and conditions without having to constantly change my boots for the job. These boots are not too hot in the summer and not too cold in the winter. They are reliably dry for at least 2 years of hard work and very comfortable nearly immediately. I would suggest treating the outside with mink oil if you are in lots of water and want to get the most life out of them. I have been purchasing this style for 10 years now. I hope they NEVER get rid of the 2414. Well worth the $300 considering they last an easy 2 years. Then I usually get another 2 out of them as a spare set. Even at 4 years old and heavy use they don't look too awful. I usually have to finally part with them because the sole is almost gone! BEST BOOTS EVER HANDS DOWN!!!! December 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by 350 miles and counting.... I purchased these boots in 2005, in St. Joseph, Mo.I needed a boot in size 14-EEE, and they had one pair in the entire store.I've built 350 miles of highway since then, and never weighed less than 330 pounds in that time.I have 2 other pair I purchased with company boot allowances, but I'm still wearing the first pair wherever I can, and if that first pair had not proved itself I would not have bought extras in case Red Wing ever stops offering it in 14-EEE.Last winter I had to start wearing the second pair I bought for plowing snow, because after 9 years of 350 degree asphalt, concrete, mud, rebar, and just pounding hard pavement while I walked, the goretex ripped somewhere inside the boots, and I started getting wet feet when it snowed.I still wear them for asphalt jobs though. These boots are proof that you get what you pay for. Rated 5 out of 5 by BEST BOOT EVER! I am an Industrial Diesel mechanic, I need a boot that can be versatile like me. Some days I work in the shop building an engine, some days I am out on a service call in the toughest of enviroments, and these boots can handle it. From a steel fabrication shop on a hot day tromping through pits filled with grease and fuel, to a coal mine with mud and powder. On some days I'm even standing on an airport runway in -25 degrees F, with the wind and a foot of snow, without even getting wet! These boots are classy enough for me to wear even when I go to a big corporate headquarters to help the engineers with application reviews with a specific engine. Most of the time, I even wear them to dinner with my wife on our date night. The thing I like most of these boots is the comfort. I am wearing them with an custom fit insole, and I can wear them for 16hrs per day, no problem. Most weeks I work 70+hours, and these boots share the load.My suggestion to you, wash them, and condition them. If you never washed your hands, what would they look like over time? Wash your boots, and you can hang on to them for decades, I have 3 sets of boots right now, and it takes me 15 minutes a month to keep mine clean. Treat these boots with care, and they will care for you back. October 5, 2014
