Rated 5 out of 5 by Redwing Boots - certain models getting worse with time When I was younger, in the 80's, I worked on a Drill Ship converted for scientific research, and portcall logistics and warehousing. I don't recall the model of Redwing slip on, steel toe I wore, but my son snagged my second pair around 2007 after being resoled a couple of times, and still wears them to mow the lawn, etc.. I purchased a pair of lace up boots, 6681 in 2000 and wore them almost daily for seven years, and they were GREAT! great ankle support and super comfortable for daily wear. I purchased another pair of 6681's in 2007 after wearing them to death and the rubber separating from the upper, but still water tight, and the ones I bought in 2007 were every bit as good. 2015, the rubber sole was separating, but still water tight and I ordered a new pair. First ones, the tongue was horribly sewn in crooked. Ordered number two, the steel toes looked like a worm was sewn in between the leather and steel toe on both shoes. Third ones, the steel toe on the right boot was at an angle (not level left to right), and the leather was straining against it. I had to switch boots. I went with the 2226 and they fit really good. I have a narrow foot, but not quiet a "B" width. these are a bit narrower in a "D" width than average, so they work well on my foot and are very comfortable. That said, not all Redwings are created equally. I wear the 2226 daily for property inspections and in the office environment. They look good and are wearing well for my daily use. August 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Solid work boots I was looking around for a decent pair of protective toe work boots, and had been looking at redwings. A friend and I were talking, and he mentioned he had a pair of these that had never been worn, except once, and he didn't like the way they fit. He gave them to me, and after about 2 weeks, the break in period is getting close to over. So far, these are fairly comfortable and solid boots. If they last me more than a year or two, I'll be ecstatic. My only minor complaint would be that the toe scuffs very easily, but it's a work boot, so I'm not overly concerned about it. Rated 5 out of 5 by Back Saver I have tried other boots but always come back to these as they are the best thing to keep my back inline. Sounds odd but I have tried other brands and styles over the years and I now just stick with these. Our company allows us to buy a new pair each year so I am now a repeat 2226 fan. April 19, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Expensive, slightly above average quality boot I have had these boots for just over 2 years now, I had to have the toes redone after about 10 months and they desperately need done again now. I paid extra for the insoles, when they were new they were great, now 2 years later ive literally worn through the insole down to the plastic at the bottom of it. the boots themselves have held up adequately, obviously they loose they "new boot" luster in the first week, and the toe caps make them ugly, but they do still function. Now im back to where I was 2 years ago though where my feet, legs, and back ache at the end of every day. I paid almost $200 for these boots, I was expecting them to last longer before I was in all this pain again. February 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great work boot The boots are built well and are comfortable after they are broke in a little. The boots are on the heavy side but that comes with a quality steel toe boot. January 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by best boots ever best boots i have ever owned. i wouldn't consider any other boot besides these. i work with metal and i'm on my feet all day walking and standing 8-10 hours every day and my feet don't get sore or fatigued. and with what i have put these boots through i would have thought they would have fallen apart by now and still going strong two years later. these boots is really ill ever wear weather im going out into town or going out to the woods and wont worry about my feet. these are best investments i have ever made for my feet.
