Rated 5 out of 5 by 40 years of 202's I have been wearing these boots since the 1970's. I never want them to change. I estimate I've had about 8 or more pairs and have never thought twice about buying my next pair. They originally had a little narrower strip of leather at the heel and a little different cuff around the ankle and maybe a sole of a slightly different material but the changes only made them better and more durable. Other than that I think they are the exact same boot. The leather they are made with and the quality of workmanship are superb. They are the most comfortable and durable shoe or boot I have ever owned and I greatly appreciate the quality built into them. I work construction in all types of weather and wear them every day. They have a nice fairly flat tread which keeps me from tracking a lot of dirt and mud into buildings and makes it easier to put a pair of rubbers or rubber boots over them when the weather gets really bad or if I need extra warmth. When I don't go to work or if I go hiking I put them on because they are so comfortable and my feet tell me that is where they want to be. I have never had any foot problems or foot aches or pains. They are a nice looking boot and I am proud to wear them wherever I go. Love that they are still made in the USA and in the long run they are the most inexpensive footwear I own. January 23, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT boots!!! I bought a pair of these in 1978 and they are STILL hanging tough today!! (Jan '16) Yeah, they are a bit rough from age and use, but they still wear well, don't leak, support well. All I do is rub them down with mink oil once a quarter and they are "as good as new!" Better, really, in that they are very well broke in!! January 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Heirloom quality, industrial grade 13 years, two pairs, one very satisfied customer. My first pair lasted five years of constant hard indoor and outdoor use. I threw them away because the soles were completely shot and I didn't realize at the time that I could have had them resoled. I won't make the same mistake with my second pair. I changed jobs and I'm not nearly as hard on boots as I one was and my second pair has lasted nearly eight years. Easily the most comfortable and durable boots I've ever owned. Worth every penny (for their intended purpose; they are not a rough terrain boot). My first pair of 202s made me a life long fan of Red Wing boots, I'm now the proud owner of three other styles. Thanks, Red Wing, for taking pride in what you do and continuing to make quality American made goods. December 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Not my last pair of Red Wing boot. RW202 was my first pair of Red Wing's boot, which I had it only for 7months. It was my work and play boot that never fails giving me stability and whole day foot comfort. I had to let go this pair of boot because the type of environment where I am working are more tough and rugged; indoor and outdoor. My RW202 has a new owner now. I need a boot with Steel Toe (ST) and also Electrical Hazard (EH). RW202 is without ST.I am getting my new pair RW2245 with ST & EH. Red Wing will not be my last pair of boot.Merry Christmas to Red Wing ... cheers! December 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Beginner Red Wing Boot I started out with my first two pairs of these in June 1990. It doesn't seem like that long ago.I have worn Red Wings exclusively since then, even around the farm.I wore them every other day until they had to be resoled. The salesman told me not to wear them every day and he was right. You need at least 2 pairs so you can let one pair dry out between use.I had them resoled twice, and finally retired them. The padded tongue really eases the stress on top of your foot.I have moved on to wear different Red Wings these days, but these were my start into the world of Red Wings. They feel like wearing tennis shoes after you break them in. These are very well made, with the old school American pride found in a superior product. If you're just starting out, these are the boots to start with.I have worked with hundreds of people who say their feet hurt from walking on concrete all day. If you value your feet & don't like to have them hurt from working all day, invest in a pair of American Classics. Red Wings. Need I say more? November 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Boot I just bought a pair at Fleming's Clothing in Marion, MI. They are primarily for use in my welding shop and even though I have only worn them a couple of days to break in, I absolutely love them. The fit and feel are as good or better than any boot I have ever owned. The fact that they are 100% made in the USA is a huge bonus! If they last as long as my last pair of Red Wing work boots (14 years), they will be well worth the money!!!! November 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Why no safety toe? I love these boots, but why won't Redwing make them in safety toe. I work in a power plant and would love to wear these boots everyday, but I am required to wear safety toe boots. Come on Redwing help me out. November 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Reflecting On a Great Boot As I began to oil my boots tonight I thought to myself about what a great product Red Wing produces. I purchased this pair of 202's 3 years ago and they have been through a lot. For 2 years these boots endured me working at a truck wash where they were exposed to repeated soaking of chemical filled water and drying. Now to my recent job of welding and fabricating. I knew Red Wings were a trusted brand when I bought these boots but now as an owner I can truly agree with that. I take for granted how durable and comfortable this boot is. Then I remember the countless pairs of other boots I had gone through prior to my pair of Red Wings. Thank you to the people who make these boots for their commitment to making a product that surpasses expectations. It is greatly appreciated by all who wear them! October 20, 2015
