Rated 5 out of 5 by Super Comfy, minimal break in time After having a great 20 years with my Red Wing Pecos, I decided to give the Red Wing Lace Up boots a try.The Initial lace up of these in the store felt a bit tight, but just after taking a few steps around the store, I knew these would be super comfortable. For the initial break in I use my personal method of using the Hot Glove treatment to soften the leather, work it loose really good. Put the boots on after you have softened them up and pull the laces tight. Do this 2-3 more times to really soften the leather to make the boot form to your foot well. I also suggest folding the tongue evenly so that there are no large folds that will create hot spots. This may take a few times, but bear with it. Follow up the hot glove treatment with some Obenauf's leather protector and these will be GREAT!! The soles are super comfortable, the inner liner is super comfortable. And if the soles wear out, these can be re-soled at a reasonable price. Don't sweat the Initial cost, as it seems Red Wing has done a fabulous job on these boots and seems that they will last quite a while January 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by THE BEST BY FAR!!! Over the years I have owned 5 pairs and could not have made a better choice. Some have lasted as long as 5 yrs. and still were 100% waterproof. They never require break-in, and I can go buy another pair anytime and even without trying them on, know that they will fit just as nicely as the last. TOP OF THE LINE!!! .........AND........I am happy to say that I have been able to buy them considerably less than MSRP. October 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Boot on the Market I work on the railroad and this boot is the best boot I have ever owned. I will wear this boot until the day I retire. hopefully they will not change this style. fits great and excellent walking boot on the terrain we have to walk. does not require breaking in either. no blisters when first wearing this boot. great boot. Has never leaked and thinsulate is enough to keep feet warm. July 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Better and more affordable than danner! I have had my red wing boots 3 years now and they are the best. I destroy any boot including whites within 6 months but my red wings have been going strong. Just bought a new pair today and will retire my old ones. My job is all over. From PT decks to ditches, concrete to mud, steel to wood they have been there. Also I am 6' 1" and 270lbs so comfort is a must. Do yourself a favor, buy redwing and buy MADE IN USA OOH RAH! Rated 5 out of 5 by So good I'm trying to find another pair Had these boots until they are falling apart, and STILL water proof ! The sole is worn through so I can feel my sock but it's still dry when I walk through 6" of water. Looking for a pair to replace . April 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good all round work boot, so far. This is my second pair of Redwings, I moved to these from a pair of 2226 made in "USA with imported materials" boots, which were at the time were the most comfortable footwear I'd ever had in my life. These boots are even more comfortable than that, and the store near me had them in 9 EEE! I certainly don't think I've ever been able to find anything that has fit my feet this perfectly. The hardware has worn on the tongue a little bit since I tie my boots quite tightly, but it doesn't seem to be more than a cosmetic issue, and I don't think anyone by me will ever notice. The insulation is good enough for an hour or so in a freezer without being unbearable, and they're still quite wearable at room temperature. The "Aztec 2" soles on this boot have much more traction on polished concrete than my last pair "Horizon", which is appreciated when pulling pallets and pushing heavy flatbeds, or even when lifting something heavy. They've weathered dozens of scruffs by carts and flatbeds already and the leather seems pretty resistant to scratching, certainly better than the leather in the 2226s. I'd highly recommend these, they are quite expensive - $70 more expensive than the 2226s, but so far it has been more than worth it. If they last nearly as long it will be worth more than every penny. April 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Boot I have ever owned I work for the railroad in all weather conditions and spend countless hours walking on uneven ballast. These boots have held up wonderful over the last year and I am going to get them resoled. Working in the railroad industry is very hard on my boots and these are by far the best I have had when it comes to durability and comfort. I would recommend these boots to anyone. February 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by machinists can't go wrong with this boot I have been a machinist for over 30 years and worn out many pairs of boots in this trade and the soles on these boots are the toughist I have ever used. The water proofing doesn't let coolant in and the soles don't pick up steel chips and as bad as others. Have had this pair for 3 years and had them resoled a year ago. I discovered a cut in the side next to sole a while back but they are not leaking yet so i'm still wearing them. Went to my redwing store in Huber heights Ohio and bought a new pair just in case the old pair does start leaking. Great boots February 22, 2015
