Red Wing Shoes

1178 Men's 11-inch Pull-On Boot

America's cowboys long preferred boots with western design and pull on styling. Unfortunately most of the boots they wore couldn't stand up to the day-to-day rigors of ranch and farm life. Red Wing PECOS boots were the first western boots to combine work boot durability with western styling. They would soon be worn on oil rigs, ranches, farms and job sites around the world. Red Wing Shoes understands the importance of proper fit, which is why this style is made to order in one of our USA factories. Due to the custom nature of this style, please allow 7-14 days for delivery from the date of order.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Best kick offs Working in a foundry, 12 hr shift, I ran these boots through the ringer. Molten metal, slag, hot sand, hot ceramic, water, cold ceramic, concrete, and diamond plate.... Pecos stood up time and time again!! A little over a year I've been rocking these kick offs and there aren't to many enviroments harsher then a foundry. Quality , strength and durability meet hush puppy comfort. Once you break in the tall part you'll be in love. My feet never hurt in these. I replaced the insole when I picked them up. A melter induction furnace operator couldn't ask for a better boot! Thank you very much for making this amazing product! January 26, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great boot There is no alternative when you are looking for a USA made boot. This is my 3rd pair of Red wings & I did not mind the wait for custom order. The uppers & soles are as rugged as the flag! However, the poron insole should be discontinued & replaced with the original leather/cork insole. The insole is inferior to the boot but don't let that detract- I've had my boots for 2 years before I wore a hole in the poron insole. January 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Work Boot I got these to work around the ranch and to work around the house and haven't regretted it once. They're a bit uncomfortable out of the box (most Red Wings are - gotta break in the amazing leather) but once you break them in, they're amazing forever. They're durable, near water proof, comfortable, and look great. I love, love, love them. Thanks, Red Wing! January 11, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great looking boot Please don't ever stop making or change the 1178 model boot. I have finally found a plain dark brown roper style boot made with great leather and I love the nitrile cork sole on these. The leather seemed to be a little on the dry side when I received my boots but after many coats of neatsfoot oil they are perfect. I wear a laceup model for work and the 1178's as my casual boot. Break in time was fairly short. I like that this boot does not have a big, tall, bulky toe box like a lot of other red wing boots do. These feel and look great. Overall they are a good USA made product that are worth the money and made the way boots should be. December 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by No other I will wear I bought the boots off of our boot truck at work and it will be the only pair of boots that I will ever buy. I absolutely love these. I've had others but these top them all. May 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Like an old friend!! Just bought a new pair after being without them for 20+ years. I am an Engineer in IT who sits at a desk. I just like the rugged looks and comfortable feel. Soon as I put them on I felt like the 20 something I was last time I had a pair. January 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great comfort and cool looks I bought my 1178s almost to years ago. wear them 5 days a week up to15hr shifts. Best boots ever, I have had other Red wings shoes (steel toes) but I will buy these again when the time comes. From the moment I put them on the fit was perfect, not cheap, not an issue. I was told once by a wise man, consistency is the key to success, an other told me never buy cheap shoes, both are very wise. I wear my boots in wet, dry, ladder (up to 6hrs), Love them! Rated 5 out of 5 by This product has extremely good looks and wearability, two things few competitors can claim. I have worn Red Wings since 1980, when my job first required me to wear a safety type footwear that would be acceptable in a variety of industrial settings. Some of the things my footwear was exposed to is rarely, if ever, encountered by your average person. These included refineries, paper mills, gas plants and chemical plants, to name a few. The soles on my Red Wings have never failed me or given me concern that they might do so. I see on your site that many send in boots to be resoled and for the life of me I cannot see how anyone can wear out the soles on these boots unless they don't have brakes on their motorcycle! I am on my third pair, this time a pair of 1178's, and am pleased as always with the style and wearability. As for the price, no they are not inexpensive, but two pair over 24 years. You do the math.
