Rated 5 out of 5 by 1reviewer.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Non-steel Toe Boot to Date! I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, have worn Red Wings for many years working in Iron Working and Welding trades. Wrote a review on the 2218 9" Logger-Lineman awhile back, but these boots have been with me longer and have a long history. Being from the PNW there are two distinct boot makers that make Packer boots, and it was time to order new boots for horseback riding, hunting and hiking. I literally drove right by the Red Wing store on the way to get fitted and said to myself...."what the heck let's see what they have". Walked into the store and saw these Lineman boots, asked the store rep about them and looked at them. Number one the soles and heels were about right for a stirrup, the back of the boot was reinforced with leather right where my spurs would fit. The leather was the selling point,.......thick, tough and supple....not that chicken hide most western boot makers use. I ordered them and have used them now for over a year. The store manager matched them with black brush guards and when they oil them for me, they buff out to a nice shine! The leather is just as as I thought, from dry desert flat lands to rough mountain riding these boots can work. I haven't had to change my stirrups and the support is outstanding when getting off my horses. I have worn them in snow, mud, river crossings, and the dance floor! I simply love them! Are they perfect? No not yet, I would suggest offering a true packer with a stacked heel, I wear out heels 2 times faster than soles and would love some in a pebbled bullhide as an option.
