Rated 4 out of 5 by Railroad conductor. As a railroad conductor I am extremely hard on boots.I never get more than six months from any work boot no matter how expensive or durable the claims are. This boot is no exception. I got four months off the soles and before the next set of soles these will be retired. However the waterproofing is much better than any other boot. And the toe guard is an excellent feature. These boots are very comfortable for a hard 12hr day exposed to the elements. I will buy another pair just know that if you are a railroader don't expect the soles to last more than a few months and the maybe a year on the upper part of the boot. Also have the shank replaced with a three rib as this will give better support in the arch. December 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great all around boot! I've had these boots for 2 years now and they are the best investment I have ever made! exceptional performance in the cold/hot/ muddy, really any conditions you will ever encounter! I was really surprised about how well they hold up when exposed to acidic solutions which is what i work with all day long! Recommend this boot to everyone! July 12, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by heavy-duty mechanic by trade I bought these boots prior to working on a drilling and blasting project in nothwest bc-Canada. I was constantly in deep mud sand clay water snow and heavy jagged rock. Along with those conditions there was oil's and fule's spilt on these boots. After nearly 2 years 11-16hrs a day these boots are still in good shape, water tight and comfortable. My only complaint is the eyelets, the material used to make them is soft and wears large groovs from the boot laces.Other that that im very pleased by the purchase of these boots May 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by excelent for mechanics! I am a diesel mechanic by trade, so my work environment is extreme, and probably the harshest environment to work boots. Everyday, my boots are subject to fuel, oil, coolant, degreaser, hot pressure washer, walking on concrete and standing on truck drag bars. I have had these boots for one year, and there is still absolutely nothing wrong with these boots!! I am on my knees allot of time also so the protective rubber toe cap keeps from rubbing through the leather and be susceptible to water. I also work out in the cold and snow to get trucks/equipment started or into shop, and not once have my feet been cold, even though they are not insulated!! And even after a year, these boots are still comfortable and I do not have sore feet after a 12 hour work day. and now, the only draw back of these boots is that being subject to the conditions I place them in is that the leather has stretched and when laced up, the eyelets have stretched real close to each other. But, no leather can withstand the chemicals and lubricants that I throw at them. Buy these boots if your a mechanic!!!! Redwing, thank you for my daily comfort!! February 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Boot I have Ever Owned I am a Red Wing boot aficionado. Owning 5 different pairs, this is by far and away my favorite pair of boots. These are hands-down the toughest ones I own. I work outside most of the time in different environments and these have always stood up to the test. It gives you a certain bit of confidence knowing that whatever the day may throw at you, you can count on your footwear to get you through it. I know that may sound cliche, but seriously, it is amazing to have that peace of mind. They look great, they feel great, and continue to be durable against everything I have put them through. I would definitely recommend these boots to anyone. February 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bow Hunting I use this pair that I purchased in 2005 for bow hunting only. They are excellent on steep terrain but allow my foot to move enough to walk toe first through the woods. The ankle support is outstanding while having a big enough toe box to wear insulated socks. They are insulated but my feet will get cold if I am not moving for more than 3 hours in 30 degree F temperatures or less. If its colder, I use boot blankets and can stay out all day. Because I use them only for hunting, I don't know how they would be for work but I am sure they would work great for outdoor jobs. I am currently buying another pair even though my original pair are still in great shape. Other then when I first purchased them, I have not polished or added any waterproofing and my feet have never been wet, even crossing streams elk hunting. Expensive but well worth the money! Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Boot First pair of Red Wings. Not sure why I've been buying inferior boots all this time wasting money. Overall; this boot is great as it fits my foot comfortably and doesn't make my foot feel tired at the end of the day. Love it and will be my next boot whenever I wear this pair out in another 2-3 years. September 22, 2014
