Rated 5 out of 5 by Best boots I've owned. I've never owned a pair of redwings previous to these. I bought them on kind of a whim while visiting the local redwing store. I am a heavy equip. Repair tech for a John Deere construction and forestry dealer so these boots have been drug through mud, dirt, diesel fuel, hyd. oil, hot slag and much more. I've owned an worn these boots every working day for well over two years. The have held up amazingly despite the conditions and the steel toes occasionally being used as hammers. I've considered buying a new pair but I can't out of shear curiosity of how long they will actually last. The soles have gotten a little slick but that's expected after two over years of being on concrete and rock. The protective layer over the steel toes have a few rips but that's also expected with the hammer usage. Seriously the best boots I've ever owned. I'll never have anything but redwing. Great quality. Rated 2 out of 5 by Not so waterproof I bought these boots to replace my rubber overshoes I wear when spraying yards and well sites. After almost exactly a month of wear (not working every day due to weather conditions) I started to notice my socks having the blue color of the spray when I took my boots off at the end of the day. I am not spraying highly corrosive chemicals, just the normal weed killers. I was very disappointed in the brand of boots everyone brags on loosing their waterproof ability after I barely got them broken in May 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Three hunting seasons and all year in between - STILL WORKING I bought these just before hunting season in 2012. I was suspicious of the design having never seen a boot with a woven material surface, but gave it a try. I provide guided bird dog hunts in rough terrain with LOTS of briars. I also farm, contract, and work outside daily. These boots have lasted longer and taken more abuse than any pair I've ever owned in the past 50 years. They've survived mud, oil, welding, concrete, heat cold, rocks, sharp metal, and broken glass. There beat up and worn looking, but STILL in service. I've never had many red wing products. I don't know about other models, but these are GREAT and I'm going back to buy two pairs. Thanks Red Wing April 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Boot Best boot I have had yet, had them in refinery and on rigs, construction, I fish in them, ride motorcycle, work. I do everything in these boots and they have held up. Was searching this website for a new pair and I am just going to get these same boots, best boot for the price for sure. March 27, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pretty good boots overall I work on a drilling rig and have been using these boots for the past 8 months.. The boots lasted for 8 months which in my opinion is pretty long. The only reason I'm getting a new pair is because the sole is pretty much done. I work in the derrick which gets slick at times especially when you have a top drive that leaks oil on the board. The whole 8 months the boots held up pretty good and never leaked water on me when some days I stood in water for long period of times. Anyone who works on a rig is grateful when they get boots that last for long periods of time with no problems. The boots where pretty comfortable and I would buy again and recommend . The ladies there are really helpful, patient, and want you to leave with a boot that works for you.. December 30, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Tear prone inner heel I bought this model of boots 1 year ago and experienced a torn inner heel after 3 months. I retruned to RW store and they replaced no problem with same pair. The same inner heel has toen again w/in 4 months of wearing resulting in blister and discomfort on my heel.Other than this inner heel problem these boots would be perfect for where I work in the remote highlands of Papua New Guinea. I'm returning these pair when I return home as I can no longer wear them without damage to my feet. Transporting a size 13 pair of these boots is no convenient either. September 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Boot I've owned I have been wearing steel toes for 19 years, and this pair is awesome. These boots have lasted far longer than I ever expected. I have worn this pair of 2499's for 19 months. Yes the sole has no tread any more, and there are a few rips in the side of the fabric from sharp objects. I work on Oil Drilling Rigs in ND. I have gone through several pairs of insoles though. They aren't the warmest when it is -20 below zero. I have rolled my ankle several times on uneven ground, but I have never injured it in doing so. The boots have give in them and think that is important. The slipon style is nice, because I am constantly taking them on and off to keep the indoor's clean. They have gone through it all with all the caustic chemicals that are spilled on them. wading through standing water, and invert, and yet my feet have never gotten wet. This fabric is outstanding! I look forward to the composite style safety toe to be released, as it will be warmer in the winter and lighter material. August 3, 2014
