Rated 5 out of 5 by A girl's solemate! Twenty-five years ago, a carpenter friend looked at my ragged, deformed Timberlands (I'm in the landscape industry) and said, "You need to get a pair of Red Wings!" Not long after that we got married. Matching Redwings, no less!New insoles yearly; now on my third pair, and that's only because they start to look pretty rough in six or seven years, and I need to maintain my "Professional image." Ha! I feel naked when not wearing my RW's. I have saved thousands upon thousand of $$ because these boots keep me on my feet, avoiding countless sprained or broken ankles and toes. By far, these boots are the best tool in my toolbox. Actually, I know of Manhattan trained chefs who wear them in their kitchens.....they last even longer there than in the rugged environments of construction, mills and factories. And I'm not biased either, just because I happen to be from Minnesota! September 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great quality boots! I've been working in an aluminum mill for 8 years. 84 hours a week, 7-12s. My company pays for our boots, and my boot of choice is the 2406. They're extremely well made, durable, comfortable, and they look great, especially with my Red Wing American flag medallions on the laces. I work in an environment where my boots can be exposed to welding sparks/slag, grease, rolling oil, hydraulic fluid, oil mist, etc. They usually lose their reddish color and turn completely black within a few weeks in the mill. That being said, they hold up beautifully. The last pair I had lasted almost 3 years, and would have lasted longer had they not gotten soaked thru with rolling oil, which can irritate and burn your skin. I just got a new pair yesterday (8/26/14), and they feel great. I recommend these Made in USA boots to anyone needing quality protection for their feet that will last. August 27, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Red Wings do not last. I bought boots a couple years ago and stored them in my boot closet . I started wearing the boots on5-16-2014. They lasted until 8-20-14. The heal on the right boot is worn to the inter heal and starting to peel. The sole is also starting to seperate from the shoe. I realize that the boots are a few years old but they were stored in a controlled climate in the original box. There is now reason for this to occur. The reason I have stored these boots so long is that I get two pairs a year and normally use only one. I have several pairs of boots left in my closet but will not replace them with RED WINGS. Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth the money I worked as summer help at GM in Janesville, WI and a guy there told me to never buy anything else. That summer I wore tennis shoes, but when I got my first job in a factory I bought a pair of these. After 4 years of serious abuse, the sole finally started to pull away from the upper on my left boot. I cleaned these boots by spraying them with water once a week. I replaced the insole once a year with some SuperFeet. Looking forward to my new pair!! August 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best all around boot rw makes! I work on cement and metal grates all day for ups. Enough cannot be said about this boot. Just tough as nails. I never follow the care instructions other than replacing the insoles. With that said I get about 4- 6 yrs out of this boot before having to buy a new pair if I'd take care I'd probably only have to buy boots every ten yrs! I love the comfort and fit you put these through everything and they just keep asking for more. For those squeamish about the cost look at the yrs you get out of these how many Walmart or name brand boots will you buy in that time?!? It's cheaper in the long run to buy these and not just your feet will appreciate it! Helps your whole body knees, ankle back etc!! June 8, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tool and die maker Boots are awesome . I average a 50 hour work week in a machine shop environment plus wear my boots working in the yard at home. Add the power step insoles and these boots are untouchable. I'm a large guy and get 2 years out of a pair of Red Wing 2406 boots. April 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Work Work Work I used to build docks when I was younger, and bought a pair of Red Wings to replace a broke down pair of Timberlands; hands down the best boots I ever owned... they are pricey however, but you get what you pay for, and they are right in the same range as many other top "name brand" boots; but life has had it's share of ups and downs, I've done many different jobs since those days; Army infantry to roofing to factory work, and I have worn many a different boot since my last pair of RW's... My expenses at the moment are pretty high; kids, dogs, wife, etc, they get all the money and "nice" things when shopping, so whenever it came time to buy work boots with what was left, these past ten years I've always gone with whatever I could get for a discount bargain price; Herman's, Wolverine's, anything I could find on sale for around $50-$75, and truth be told I'd be lucky to get more then a year out of any of 'em before they would fall apart... #my dock building red wings lasted 3 years strong, dirty but sturdy, before i lost one, stuck in the muck at the bottom of the shrewsbury river, NJ#... my mom, god bless her, asked me this year "if I needed anything", and while I usually turn her offers down and steer her towards the grandkids, this time i said, "honestly mom, I could use a new pair of GOOD work boots... I'm on my feet 60+ hours a week on concrete floors, with a bad knee, I need to take better care of feet, but after I pay my bills and such, if I was gonna buy myself new work boots, I'm just gonna buy another bargain pair, but if you want to buy me something nice, buy me a pair of Red Wing boots.... first day like any new shoe they needed to break in, feet were a little sore, by the 2nd day, they were more comfortable then the boots they replaced... this is the pair, and already I love 'em... here's to hoping they last as long as the last pair... 1 pair of redwings for 3+ years is absolutely well worth the 3 pair of discount boots i'd buy in a 3 year period...
