1178 Men's 11-inch Pull-On Boot

America's cowboys long preferred boots with western design and pull on styling. Unfortunately most of the boots they wore couldn't stand up to the day-to-day rigors of ranch and farm life. Red Wing PECOS boots were the first western boots to combine work boot durability with western styling. They would soon be worn on oil rigs, ranches, farms and job sites around the world. Red Wing Shoes understands the importance of proper fit, which is why this style is made to order in one of our USA factories. Due to the custom nature of this style, please allow 7-14 days for delivery from the date of order.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Just great! Traditional higher heel cowboy boots are hard on my hip and back. I feel like I am in synch with the ground and my body with these. They just feel natural. Super durable. I did not like them much until I broke them after after several months of wearing on the weekends working on my ranch. After the break in they are fantastic but are stiff until then.... The bigger name cowboy boots just don't hold up to rugged work wear you are banging, scratching and roughing them up. These are a true tradition and I even wear them out with a nice ironed button down.. October 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simply the Best There is no better work boot, period. I have worn this style for over 40 years, and have made attempts to change over the years......I always come back to this boot. I even tried switching to the 1155s (a fine boot, no doubt).....for some reason, I thought they looked a bit more stylish....nope, those were sold on ebay, and I went back to the 1178s. I will never wear a different work boot. If they are properly fitted to your foot, they will be the most comfortable boots you can put on your feet. And the folks at the stores are always so nice, they allow me to try on multiple pairs of the same size if available.....there is always one pair that fits more perfectly than the others. You can't go wrong with this boot..... October 1, 2014

Rated 1 out of 5 by Something Has Changed For the Worst. I wore Red Wing 1155 & 402 for over twenty years and never had the first problem. I would put them on at 5:30 in the morning and wear them until 8:00 at night 5/6 days per week and be comfortable all day. I changed jobs and went away for a while and just wore roper boots from either Justin or Ariat. I decided to go back and try the Red Wing 1178. This was a huge mistake. I do not know what has changed with the insoles but this is the most uncomfortable boots I have ever worn. I have tried different sock and new insoles, both Dr. Scholl's and the ones from the Red Wing, with no difference in the feel. I have never been as disappointed in a pair of boots in my life. Right now I have spent $235 for something to collect dust in the closet. There is no way I could recommend these boots to anyone. June 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works with my high archs There are a lot of cowboy type boots out there. The ones I have worn have never made it. Even though I have not had these boots long I think they will be very good boots for the long haul . I need a lowheel on a boot. They just feel better. Also very short breakin period. I have only worn them in dry conditions. These boots are great, they feel good on my feet, large toe box, so far my feet don't get tired. The leather seems first rate. Great soles and replaceable as well. They are pricey but you get what you pay for. May 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality that lasts I bought a pair of these Redwings back in 1990 while working on a cattle station in Australia. Still use them for cattle work and mustering today. They have been resoled so many times Ive lost count, but not a stich out of place anywhere. These boots have had a very hard life and they are still my favourite work boots.Enough said.... Rated 5 out of 5 by Great boots I've owned many cowboy boots and these are the most comfortable and functional boots I have. One pair I've owned for 24 years and they just keep getting better. I shoot in cowboy action matches and these boots have held up great at every event I've worn them to. I've seen other cowboy action shooters wearing them also. I highly recommend them. March 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Last Boot You'll Ever Own I've had this boot for about 13 years.. basically since high school. With them to frat parties and now casual dinner parties. Now someone made off with them, so it's time to buy a new pair. March 26, 2014
